Engel & Völkers continues its international course of expansion: The global real estate company is now active with a Market Center in the Italian city of Bologna, as of May 2023. It is located in the ‘Palazzo De' Toschi’ on the Piazza Minghetti, the market square in the historic centre of Bologna. Premium residential properties will now be brokered throughout the city as well as the surrounding region from this central location. Engel & Völkers has been operating a Market Center in the Italian capital Rome since 2015. “With this new Market Center, we are now expanding into another strategically important property market in Italy and strengthening our market presence in the country even further,” says Tomaso Aguzzi, CEO of Engel & Völkers Italy.
Famous for its university, Bologna boasts beautiful medieval streets and many sights of historical and cultural interest, as well as museums, cafés and bars. Due to its great connection to international air and rail traffic, it has been attracting the interest of international clientele for years. The real estate market here is very dynamic – mainly a first home market, Bologna is also partially a second home market for the hilly regions surrounding the city and accounts for one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Italy.
“Demand for prime real estate in Bologna is consistently high. The city offers a diverse range of different types of property and holds very much potential for a renowned brand like Engel & Völkers,” says Tomaso Aguzzi, adding: “The new Market Center marks our entry into another key property market in Italy and is an important milestone on the way to asserting our market position across the country.”
There are currently 20 real estate agents already working at the Market Center. Over the next two years, the team will expand to around 100 agents. “We are very confident that we will attract many more agents with both talent and enthusiasm, and grow together in this exciting market,” Tomaso Aguzzi sums up.
Engel & Völkers introduced the Market Center (MC) concept in 2013, to complement its already successfully established licence partner system. The MC concept is intended to enable the company to pursue its strategy of rapid growth in key international real estate locations and to gain a larger market share in these important markets. The area in which a Market Center operates covers a geographical region with a transaction volume of 10 to 20 classic Engel & Völkers residential property shops. The first Market Center opened in Barcelona. Engel & Völkers is now represented with more than 18 MCs worldwide.
